2018 TRENDY LOCATIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS IN OTTAWA

Ever wonder where you should take your photos in the capital city of Canada? Ottawa must have beautiful destinations since it’s the capital, right? Correct! Ottawa has so many beautiful places that people all over the world can come and visit. However, through the many different options, this I will highlight the top 3 trendy destinations that people have taken in 2018 so far. The main ones are Experimental Farm, Ontario Art Gallery, and, Kricklewood Farm. (Disclaimer: Judgement is based on the numerous people/bloggers I follow that are from Ottawa)

‍‍‍1. EXPERIMENTAL FARM

If you have an Instagram theme that has the colour palette of white, brown, grey, or beige, this farm is the farm for you. This farm has so many nice places to take pictures of, besides the most popular ones: the Arboretum, Ornamental Gardens, Tropical Greenhouse and etc, their field crops are even better. Their field crops are filled with corn, crops and etc. They have paths for you to even walk inside these paths which leads to a very nice place to take pictures at (especially in the fall). The background has a neutral, relaxed, and fall vibe that can fit perfectly with your fall theme. You can walk through the field and do the Three-Point Smile pose that I talked about in my other blog “Top 10 Instagram Poses You Need to Know”. Aside from that, it’s a nice place to even go for a jog, walk, or even a bike ride. Learn more through their website!

2. Ontario Art Gallery

The Ontario Art Gallery is another destination that is filled with a variety of art pieces of many talented artists. Since its grand opening in April 2018, the place has been a destination to not only to look at amazing art pieces, but to take photos with various art pieces. As you can see in the photo on the right, this wall is well known for its simplicity of a white background while having some texture at the same time. Many people have came here to pose in front of this wall because of its simplicity and great natural lighting . They also have a neon sign inside the building as well which you can pose in front of. Also, they have a very nice café seating area as well which has nice colours such as navy blue, gold, grey, white, and etc. Learn more at their website!

 3. KRICKLEWOOD FARM

Even though this location is technically not in Ottawa, but a 2-hour drive away from Ottawa, it is still a location where many people went during the summer to take photos at. This location is located in Frankville Ontario and it is well known for their sunflower field. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to personally take a picture there myself, but here is a picture that a good friend even though this location is technically not in Ottawa, a 2-hour drive away from Ottawa, it is still a location where many people went during the summer to take photos at. This location is located in Frankville Ontario and it is well known for their sunflower field. This place was perfect to take a nice summer photo since the colours consisting of yellow and green! Pick up a sunflower, that has already fallen on the ground, and while you hold it, pose with an amazing smile on your face since the weather is beautiful (hopefully) and you're surrounded with bright colours! Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to personally take a picture there myself, but here is a picture that a good friend of mine, who is also a photographer, took during the summer.  Please visit her photography page as well @justhepangster.   mine, who is also a photographer, took during the summer.

In the end, there are many more destinations that Ottawa has to take photos at. Ottawa even has the Rideau Canal, Major Hill’s Park, and much more. The main ones that people have been using this year were mainly the ones listed above. I hope this has given you an idea of what type of destinations/pictures people are going for these days and hopefully it will ignite some inspirations for future shoots.
